Sri Nisargadatta was a fully awakened mahatma, who with no schooling and no previous spiritual knowledge prior to his awakening, lived as a poor, illiterate, low-caste family man making his living as a street vendor rolling and selling cigarettes from a stall in a Bombay slum. After his awakening he taught from a garret room located over a public urinal near his stall. He departed this world in the early 1980’s when he was in his 80’s. The following is taken, with no particular order or temporal organization, from published and private sources of answers given by Nisargadatta to questions posed to him by visitors, during his final years.
